Reward for being Christ-like?

Many a time we wonder why in spite showing Christ-like love to people with pure motives, we do not receive the same back from them. We would have shown acts of kindness and love to others believing that is what we are called to do as God's children. Yet we would have been disappointed by people when they would have used us spitefully to accomplish their selfish motives, instead of giving us back unselfish love. Such experiences in fact would make us sometimes decide within our hearts to limit showing brotherly love to others or even stop us from sincerely helping others.

Some of us would have even asked God, why He allowed us to be fooled by others while we only did what He expected from us... For such grieving hearts there is a portion in the Bible which soothes our wounded soul beyond our imagination...

Matthew 26:27 (NIV)
Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him

Isa 53:5 (NIV)
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;

We have not gone through pain and suffering to the point He did...If we say that we have been badly treated or fooled for being Christ-like, how much more He endured so that we be saved. Our ill-treatment is nothing when compared to His...

Isn't this giving a new dimension to our thinking and decision-making?

  1. Tuesdays message has had a positive impact on me. In the recent past I had someone lash out at me when I gave some advice with a good intention and have been feeling pretty low since then but this message makes me see things in a new light. Compared to the suffering that Christ took up for our sake, the petty troubles and pain we have in this world are so insignificant.
