Many of us do things in life thinking that we know best. Yes, it is true that we live to the best of our intellectual abilities by exercising our knowledge, wisdom and reasoning gained from our experience and observed learning's. Though this is the common way of living, a child of God learns life through God's Word. That is why the Psalmist in Ps 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (NIV).
The Word of God (Bible) is the instruction manual to man.

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
But only those who believe it will take efforts to live by it. And those who does so benefit from its promises...
They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long...

God Himself being the Word wants to take us through, are we ready to let Him take the reins...
