If at all we need to be made in God's likeness, the first and the foremost trait which need to be found in us is transparency. Only then the Spirit of God will be able to bring about transformations in our life. Otherwise we will keep overriding every conviction the Lord brings through intellectual and self-righteous reasoning.
Transparency in other words, as described in God's Word is good conscience. When we have a good conscience or a transparent heart, then we will be ever ready to learn from mistakes, take corrections and convictions that come to us with humility and will be people whom the Lord can mould effectively.
So let us always have a good conscience so that we can readily yield to the Lord's work in us...
Hebrews 13:18 (NASB)
...for we are sure that we have a good conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things.
A good conscience will always aim for good conduct and pleasing life to the Lord. Amen.
