Well composed like Him ...

We are all good talkers but poor listeners. Most of us are very skillful when it comes to talking. We can go on for hours if given a chance. But we seldom listen to others. We all have a bad habit to hurry up while talking, due to which we don't wait until others finish. We are quick to reply but very bad to pause and consider. Myself included, I believe that most of us are like that...

But God doesn't expect us to be good orators but He expects us to be good listeners. Jesus is the best listener in this whole universe. Even when He lived on earth, I believe He would have given time for people to finish what they desired to tell Him without hurrying to answer them.

As Rev. Selwyn Hughes points out Jesus never hurried, worried or flurried. So should we be and learn to be a like Jesus who was quick to listen but slow to speak...

James 1:19 (NIV)

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.

  1. So true. But I'm glad that I'm a good listener rather than a good speaker.
    God bless.
