Sometimes there can be a veil in our lives which can block God's presence in our lives. It can be an unconfessed sin, an unyielding part in us, an unsurrendered thing which we would not want to give up or perhaps a thought process that is against His will. It could be anything such as these because of which we find our prayer times unfulfilling. We would have spent time with God, yet know that God did not speak to us through His Word or we did not feel that prayer time as edifying or fulfilling. We know that something is missing or empty or void.
When we experience such things, it is better that we come to God with an open mind and ask Him to show that which is blocking His presence in our lives. Or perhaps we know what is blocking His presence, for the Holy Spirit of God would have revealed it to us where we are at fault or what is not God's will.
We quickly need to repent and be restored, so that His presence flows back and the veil which blocks us from God, is torn off...
2 Corinthians 3:16 (Amplified Bible)
But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away.
This is very true, i have experienced this kinda situation.
