Effective Prayer

Whose prayers does God answer? Everybody's? True ...everybody's ...anyone who calls upon Him in truth...

Psalm 145:18 (NIV)

The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Jesus is sure to answer people who call Him wholeheartedly. But there is one more hitch here... If there is any sin in our life then we cannot assume that God will take our sins lightly and will continue to answer our prayers. He will first convict us of our sin. It is upto us to recognize it, repent and turn away from that sin. We should not presume that God will answer our prayers in spite of our indifference to His convictions...

For sin is like wall between us and God. It will block our relationship to Him...

That is why the Word of God says, that the prayer of the righteous man is more effective than others...

James 5:16 (NIV)

Therefore confess your sins ...The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

A righteous man is one who lives life pleasing to God...

1 John 3:22 (NIV)

and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

Therefore let us be careful to live our life right with God, so that our prayers might not be hindered...
