Never Failing Word

There are times in our lives when things can be just opposite to God's promises and in spite of praying and claiming God's Word, nothing may seem to change. At such times when we coincidently get to read a promise of God (which we might be faithfully holding on), we may feel like sarcasm. The devil will use our minds to make us feel that the Word of God is mocking at us. He will make us believe that all that we are believing and holding on is a lie.

But we need to remember one thing. That the devil is the father of lies since his existence. The Word of God can never become a sarcasm or mock at us. It is the devil, who is the mocker and the accuser.

We need to believe only one thing, that the Word of God stands forever,

Isaiah 40:8 (New International Version)
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God stands forever.

God never failed those who held on to Him and His Word. We need to be careful not to fall for the devil's deceptions or our current trials, for God's Word will surely come to pass no matter the time...

Instruction Manual...

Many of us do things in life thinking that we know best. Yes, it is true that we live to the best of our intellectual abilities by exercising our knowledge, wisdom and reasoning gained from our experience and observed learning's. Though this is the common way of living, a child of God learns life through God's Word. That is why the Psalmist in Ps 119:105 says, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (NIV).

The Word of God (Bible) is the instruction manual to man.

Ps 119:9 (NIV)

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.

But only those who believe it will take efforts to live by it. And those who does so benefit from its promises...

Deuteronomy 32:47 (NIV)

They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. By them you will live long...

We better not do that...

There are many born-again believers who read only those portions in the Bible that are pleasing to them. For instance they highly rely on God's promises, comforting words and something which they would like to hear from God. They seldom give significance to any word of correction, change, transformation that the Word of God may direct to implement. When they sit for prayer they come with the attitude saying, "Speak Lord thy servant heareth"; but their hearts are far from being open to any conviction that the Spirit of God may show them. If at all they come across any convicting portion while reading the Bible they do not apply it to themselves but rather choose to relate it to others .This sort of manipulation is the greatest deception a believer can do to him/herself. So let us not be like the false teachers whom Paul referred to at the Corinthian Church, who peddled with the Word of God for their profit. Let us be open to God's voice and to His Word whether it is correction, instruction, warning, direction, promise or consolation. Let us learn to take and yield to God's Word with sincerity and open spirit.

2 Co 2:17 (NIV)
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

How Much Do We Take?

The very purpose for us to read God's Word during the time of prayer is to receive a Word from the Lord. It may be a promise or instruction; a word of consolation or guidance or even a gentle rebuke which the Lord may use to speak to us according to the time of need or situation. But how many times do we take it seriously and well enough until the Word has become active and alive in us. Every week we go to church and receive God's Word. Yet how well do we take it and meditate on it believing that God had intended to serve a purpose through that Word? Or do we take it casually and forget it the moment we walk out of the church?

For a child of God if the Word of God received doesn't make an impact then we are living superficially. We may read a lot of scripture portion for the day but there is definitely one rhema Word or a portion of scriptures which the Lord may give us to fulfill a purpose. Yet it is in our hands how we take it and mix it with faith so that it comes alive in us and our lives. So let us eat God's Word that it may really produce result. Amen.
Jer 15:16 (NIV)
When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty

Adequately Fed

Every believer in Christ would agree that reading and meditating on God's Word is essential to keep up our spiritual life. To compromise on that would turn out as disastrous after some time. Initially when we ignore reading God's Word (the Bible) for a day or two, it may not make a real difference. For some a few lines of prayer may seem suffice. But as days go by a void sets in which cannot be easily eroded. This is due to the fact that when we don't get to hear from God through His Word or know Him through His Word, our spiritual being becomes malnourished and ultimaltely becomes unhealthy. Let us not forget that the Word of God is the manna with which our spiritual being is fed. When our spiritual man is unfed then our soul becomes unhealthy.
Matthew 4:4 (NIV)
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
